Introducing our new Wellbeing120 leader

We are excited to announce that our Wellbeing120 ministry will be restarting on 16 April with our new Wellbeing120 Leader, Phillip Attwood.

Phillip introduces himself, in his own words below:

I feel excited about taking up the position on Well Being Team Leader as from the 16 April 2024 and am grateful for an opportunity to work in this way under the auspices of Immanuel Church.

I have for some years worked as a counsellor for Relate, both in schools with young people and with couples and individuals. It is an honour to be trusted with many details of people’s lives and hear of their struggles and celebrate with them when they come into new freedoms as young people, couples and individuals.

I have been extremely fortunate to have lived a varied and interesting life. I was born in South Africa and grew up and attended school in Zimbabwe. I came to Britain as a young man aged twenty-four and was eventually able to requalify as a secondary school teacher. More latterly, my wife Frances and I lived and worked in Uganda for five years (I was previously in Uganda in 1983-84) and have since been able to return each year to a Church of Uganda Diocese in the southwest of the country where we enjoy an informal partnership with the Bishop of the Diocese and his team.

We have very much enjoyed being invited to be part of varied teaching programmes when in the Diocese. Our experiences have taught us a great deal in all sorts of ways!

During the Covid pandemic I was made very aware of the many mental health issues experienced by people of all ages; I was very aware too of loneliness and isolation experienced by both young and old.

It is my hope, that over the coming weeks and months the Wellbeing120 Group will be, for those who attend, a wonderful place of welcome, acceptance and healing.
